Training

We can not impress how important proper socialization and training are for your pet...like this ranks right up there with feeding them.  This is going to determine how much you actually get to enjoy them.  As much as these dogs can be amazing little angels, things can take a turn for the worse without mental and physical stimulation.

Their brains are like little sponges and it is our job to let them know the appropriate ways to react to every situation possible. We begin this as soon as they are born with the ENS that we do and continues using Puppy Culture Methods to bring them where they need to be when you take them home.  Here are some options to help facilitate that.

Positive Training Books

  • Puppy Socialization, An Insider’s Guide to Dog Behavioral Fitness, by Caryl Wolff
  • Train Your Dog Positively, by Victoria Stilwell
  • The Puppy Whisperer, A Compassionate, Nonviolent Guide to Early Training and Care, by Paul Owens and Terence Cranendonk
  • Don’t Shoot The Dog!, by Karen Pryor
  • Inside of a Dog, What Dogs See, Smell, and Know, by Alexandra Horowitz

Transition Training

For some people, potty and crate training a puppy sounds like the last thing they want to do.  If this is you, then Transition Training might be right for you.  Transition training takes about 4 weeks and it exposes your puppy to tons of socialization, gets them about 90% potty trained, and completes the crate training process.  Your puppy will learn about 15-20 commands, including sit, stay, place, and crate.  Your puppy will learn how to act in public places and have exposure to all sorts of people, places, and things.  This is the foundational training for service/therapy dogs.  The cost of this service is $300/week and includes all of the hard work listed above, as well as a bag of your puppy's favorite treats and toys, a cozy little blanket, and other tools to help transition your puppy into their forever home.  While your puppy is being trained, you can also expect lots of pictures and videos to keep you updated on their progress.

Please let me know if this is something you'd be interested in.  I'm happy to answer any questions you might have and to let you know what the next steps would be.
